Two dead in two different accidents

TANAHUN, April 23: Two persons died and four others were injured in two different accidents which occurred in Tanahun and Udayapur on Sunday and Monday.

A person died when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle in Myagde Rural Municipality-1, Gunadi on Monday morning.  The bus (Na 6 Kha 8410) headed for Pokhara from Damauli bumped a motorcycle (3-02-001 Pa 6035) coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased has been identified as motorcyclist Sandip Kunwar, 31, of Pokhara Metropolitan City-33, Pumdibhumdi.

Critically injured Kunwar was rushed to Damauli Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead by the doctors, according to police. Srijana Rawat, 26, of Pokhara-7 who was riding pillion is seriously injured. She was initially taken to Ratnahari Hospital but was later referred to Manipal Teaching Hospital. 

Srijana has sustained injuries on her legs and chest. Police have impounded both the vehicles and arrested the bus driver.  

In the other accident, a person died and three others sustained injuries as a jeep met with an accident in Belka Municipality of Udayapur on Sunday evening. 

A pickup van ( Ko 1 Ja 1615) was headed for Kulung from Barahachhetra Municipality, Chatara in Sunsari district. The accident took place at around 8 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj Rai, 23, of Belka-7, Mainamaini, according to police. According to the District Police Office (DPO), break failure was the reason behind the accident.  Rai died on the spot. The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical.

A team of seven police officers from the Area Police Office (APO), Rampur, had immediately reached the site for the rescue work after being informed about the mishap. 
Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandradev Rai, chief of DPO, informed Republica that the injured are undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan.
