CHITWAN, Feb 19: Two people have been arrested with a large quantity of marijuana in Chitwan.
The Area Police Office, Bhandara, arrested two people with 542 kg of marijuana this morning from Jhurjhure along the East West Highway in Rapti-3.

Among those arrested are Ramesh Nath Dahal, 32, of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality, Dhankuta, and Khushiram Tharu, 25, of Buddha Bhumi Municipality, Kapilvastu.
The police have also seized two trucks used by them for transporting the contraband. According to the police, marijuana was found in the container trucks numbered (Na 3 Kha 6122) and (Na 3 Kha 7240) which were stopped near the East West Highway section in Jhurjhure. According to the police, 542 kilos of marijuana contained in 39 bags was found from the truck (Na 3 Kha 7240).
Shree Ram Bhandari, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Chitwan, said that this marijuana was brought from Malekhu, Dhading in a truck (Na 3 Kha 6122). According to him, the marijuana was transferred from that truck to another truck (Na 3 Kha 7240) in Jhurjhure. The police said that further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
