BARA, Jan 17: Police have arrested two people on the charge of raping and killing a 9-year-old girl. The arrested are identified as Santosh Sah Kanu, 20, of Aadarsh Kotwali Rural Municipality-8 and Shanti Devi, 40, of the same place.
The girl who had gone to graze her cattle from her home went missing on January 9. Her dead body was found in Jamuni River at Adarsh Kotwali Rural Municipality-7 on January 11.

After the girl’s body was found, the District Police Office, Bara and Provincial Police Office carried out investigations which revealed that the minor had been raped before she was killed. The police then arrested Santosh Shah who is allegedly involved in the incident and Shanti Devi who is involved in hiding evidence.
According to the District Police Office, Bara, the arrested have been remanded into custody for five days by the district court, Bara, and further investigation into the case is underway.
