Local residents accused them of raping the two girls who had gone to play swing in Dashain. Locals surrounded the APF battalion on Wednesday after learning that the APF personnel had raped the two girls.
Earlier, the relatives of the girls had repeatedly reported to the Superintendent of Poilce (SP) of the Battallaion, Ramesh Thapa, about the rape of the two girls. However, they were trying to cover up the matter.
Their arrest was delayed due to the fact that the accused had been kept under cover since October 10. However, Shailendra Thapa, co-spokesperson for the APF, said that both accused have been arrested and handed over to Nepal Police following the allegations of the locals. He said that further investigation has been initiated into the matter.
On the other hand, SP Thapa has been in controversy for ignoring a serious case like rape. He came into controversy even when he was the SP of Siraha.
During his tenure in Siraha, he faced controversy after his Scorpio vehicle hit an Indian national on Indian territory. Now, he is in controversy for attempting to cover up the allegations against his subordinate employees.
