KATHMANDU, May 17: The counting of votes will begin in Tulsipur Sub-metropolis-17 of Dang today as soon as the voting that was suspended earlier concludes.
Voting in Ward 17 of the sub-metropolis was suspended after the death of Labaru Chaudhary, one of the candidates. Voting is underway in this ward at the moment. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, the counting of votes will start immediately after the completion of polling in the ward.
In Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, there is competition between the five-party ruling alliance and the UML. Gehendra Giri of the Nepali Congress is contesting for the post of mayor on behalf of the ruling alliance while Tikaram Khadka is the candidate for the post from the CPN-UML.
Similarly, Jog Bahadur Rana of CPN (Unified Socialist) is contesting for the post of deputy mayor while Saini Chaudhary is contesting in the polls for the post of deputy mayor from the UML .
