KATHMANDU, Dec 8: After canceling previous call for applications amid controversy surrounding its criteria, the Tribhuvan University (TU) has invited fresh applications for the post of the Vice Chancellor of the country’s oldest and largest university.
A Selection and Recommendation Committee formed to recommend names for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor issued a revised notice on Monday, inviting applications from the prospective candidates.
Interested candidates can apply for the post within 15 days from the date of publication of the notice along with the required documents mentioned. The committee issued a new notice by canceling the notice it issued earlier.

The committee had issued a notification on January 5, calling for applications for the post of vice-chancellor. The notice was canceled on Sunday following a dispute over some of its criteria.
In particular, the provision that required the prospective candidates to submit a certified copy of the details of the university officials who have worked for at least three years (including the year, month and day) in any one of the positions had courted serious controversy. This provision was deemed as an attempt to appoint someone close to the ruling parties rather than finding a qualified candidate for the post.
Amid serious disputes, Prime Minister Puhspa Kamal Dahal, who is also Chancellor of TU, had instructed the TU authorities to issue another notice. Accordingly, the old process has been canceled and a fresh application process has been started.
Without mentioning any provision in the new notification, the new notice states that 'according to the selection and recommendation procedure-2080 BS, applications have been invited from those who are willing and eligible to apply for the post of Vice-Chancellor'.
Regarding the documents, the notice asks prospective candidates to submit the application with the documents mentioned in the procedure.
