TU affiliated campuses padlocked

KATHMANDU: As many as 60 colleges affiliated to the Tribhuvan University (TU) have been padlocked under the protest program by Nepal Partial Professor Association. The Association has padlocked workspace and accounting branches of campus chiefs of these colleges.

Nepal Temporary Professor’s Association has been agitating for months now with the demand to make temp teachers permanent employees by meeting all processes. They have also been organizing various protest programs since mid-March.

A heavy number of security personnel have been deployed outside the vice-chancellor’s office at TU to avoid any untoward incident. The padlocking has dealt a blow to teaching-learning activities and other administrative works at RR College, Tri-Chandra College, Patan Multiple Campus and ASCOL, among other TU affiliated colleges in the valley.

The Association has been imposing a strike at the main gate of Prof Dr Tirth Raj Khaniya, TU vice-chancellor’s office for a week now.
