Truck hits at least seven vehicles in Kalanki, one killed, seven others injured

KATHMANDU, Dec 11: At least one person was killed on the spot, and seven others were injured on the spot when a loaded truck hit as many as seven vehicles at Chandragiri Municipality in Kathmandu on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Shankar Pariyar, 30, of Okhaldhunga district.

According to the Metropolitan Police Sector Office, Kalanki, a loaded truck with registration number Province-2-03001-Kha 1420 hit seven vehicles in the Thankot-Kalanki road stretch as they were driving past slowly due to heavy traffic jam. Preliminary investigation has shown that the accident occurred due to brake failure. A detailed investigation into the accident is currently underway, according to police.

Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition. All the injured are receiving treatment in various hospitals in Kathmandu Valley, police said.

The truck driver is also among those seriously injured in the accident. He is also receiving treatment, police said.
