KATHMANDU, July 7: “We will be reciting poetry, singing poetry and dancing poetry,” said Marie Ange Sylvain, the Managing Director at Image Ark Gallery in Kulimha Tole in Lalitpur. She wasn’t exaggerating.

The opening night of ‘Troubadours: Poetry on the move’ exhibition at the Image Ark premises on Friday, saw the coming together of poetry, art, music and dance.[break]

The exhibition itself showcases nine Nepali poets, both established and aspiring names, and art interpretations of their poems. The National Poet of Nepal, Madhav Prasad Ghimire along with Manjul Nepal, Manu Manjil, Susmita Nepal, Homraj Acharya, Nayan Pokharel, Ujjwala Maharjan, Yukta Bajracharya, and Gaurab Subba are the exhibiting poets.

During the opening of the exhibition, there were poetry recitations and performances by poets while veteran Nepali artist Kiran Manandhar did a live painting while Susmita Nepal’s poem ‘Kabita ko Ghar’ was recited.

Kutumba members teamed up with beat-boxer and B-boy Nishanta Gauchan to wow the audience. While, Satyam Shrestha and his team of dancers beautifully performed a lyrical and traditional dance fusion to sections from National Poet Ghimire’s ‘Gauri’ epic.

Troubadours: Poetry on the Move will go on till August 9.
