Tree plantation to mark 61 years of diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Israel

KATHMANDU

The Embassy of Israel together with Shalom Club Nepal organized “Tree Plantation Program”, in Rastriya Shahid Tatha Shanti Park, Nijamati (Smarak), Gokarneswor-4, on October 26.

According to a press statement released by the Embassy of Israel, trees were planted in the park on the occasion to mark the 61st years of diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Israel, as a symbolic act of celebrating nature, goodness and promoting ecological awareness.

The Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Devendra Paudel, graced the ‘Tree Plantation Ceremony’ as the Chief Guest. Meanwhile, Mayor of Gokarneswor-4 Municipality Santosh Chalise , Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder, Chairperson of the park Sudarsan Sigdel, among others were present in the event.

The press statement quoted Paudel as saying, “This is my third visit to this park. The park would be exemplary for Nepali as well as foreigners who come to visit the park and wish to know about Martyrs.” He further emphasized that the budget that has been allocated for the park development will be implemented soon.

It added the expression of Goder saying, “The Embassy of Israel appreciates Shalom Club efforts for preserving the environment and supporting the community.”

The Embassy is hopeful to spread a message that trees are vital; the roots of living and it’s a responsibility of each individual to take care of the natural world for the better today and tomorrow.
The plantation program was followed by the visit to B P Koirala Museum ‘Sundarijal Bandigriha.’ The relations between Nepal and Israel were established at the initiation of the two great leaders and Prime Ministers of their respective countries, BP Koirala and David Ben Gurion on June 1, 1960. Marking this important event, Ambassador Goder along with the Embassy staff and Shalom Club Members visited B P Koirala Museum.
