BABIYACHAUR (MYAGDI), July 3: Regular transportation in the hilly district of Myagdi has come to a grinding halt due to incessant rainfall and the consequent landslides.

The transportation along the road connecting the district headquarters to the remote areas has stopped due to monsoon triggered landslides, swollen rivers and mud slush.

The Beni-Jomson, Beni-Darwang and Beni – Pakhapani routes have been blocked, Myagdi Jeep and Bus Operators Committee Office Chief, Devendra Poudel said. The transportation can resume only after repairing the roads, he added.

The landslides which struck Kavrebhir bordering Myagdi and Mustang, Tiplang area of Bega and Dana – 3 along the Beni-Jomson road section – which connects the trans-Himalayan district of Mustang to the national highway – have brought vehicular movement to a standstill for the last three days.

The tourists, religious devotees and locals have been stranded in mid way to the lack of heavy equipments needed to clear the road, according to Danaka Hotel entrepreneur, Indra Singh Sherchan. RSS
