KATHMANDU, Dec 14: The public screening of a collection of short films titled ‘Remembrances- Reflections of Healing’ was held at the Outdoor Adventure Center Nepal in Thamel on Monday. The screening was organized by VOW Media along with their partner organization Shakti Samuha.

In this collection of short films, young girls and women who are survivors of human trafficking shared their unique stories from their perspective. Under a four months’ training on photography and videography provided by VOW Media, the photo stories and short films were created by trafficking survivors. The short films not only shared the stories of strength, courage and activism but also helped in spreading awareness on human trafficking in Nepal. The classes were interspersed with workshops on women’s rights, feminism, human rights and leadership.

The screening program started off with a quick opening and the objective of this project, which is basically to enable girls to voice out their stories by using various media tools. It was followed by a powerful dance performance by members of Shakti Samuha along with the film screening. The event also launched the book ‘Remembrances’ which is a collection of photo stories of the survivors of human trafficking. Charimaya Tamang, co-founder of Shakti Samuha, and Pooja Pant, director of VOW Media jointly launched the book.

The program concluded with a short question and answer session where Charimaya and Pooja answered all the queries put forth by the audiences.
