Tourism sites, hotels, enterprises brought under ambit of law

MYAGDI, July 12: Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi district has brought tourism sites, hotels and restaurants under the ambit of law and tax. 



The Rural Municipality through the recently held rural municipality assembly passed the decision of bringing the tourism sites, hotels and enterprises under the ambit of law along with registration process. 



Spokesperson of Annapurna Rural Municipality, Krishna Prasad Baruwal, said that the decision was taken to take charge from tourists visiting the tourism sites including Ghodepani, Punhill, Khopra and Tatopani. 



A total of Rs 2.5 million was collected in revenue from Bhurung Tatopani Lake and Rs 550,000 tax from Punhill in the fiscal year 2017/18, it is said. 



Chairperson Dum Bahadur Pun said that 70 per cent of the total collected amount would be spent for the development of the respective sites while 30 per cent amount would be mobilized to other sectors of the Rural Municipality. 



Similarly, the Rural Municipality also decided to collect Rs 15,000 in tax from per megawatt electricity annually from the hydropower projects developed in its areas. There are five hydropower projects under construction at Annapurna Rural Municipality. RSS
