UML agrees to lift house obstruction following a meeting with the top leaders with NC and Maoist Center

KATHMANDU, July 9: A meeting of the top leaders of the three major political parties– Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center)-- has ended with an agreement to lift the ongoing house obstruction.

KATHMANDU, July 9: A meeting of the top leaders of the three major political parties– Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center)-- has ended with an agreement to lift the ongoing house obstruction.


The obstruction of UML lawmakers in the House of Representatives since Wednesday will come to an end from today with the UML agreeing to reconsider the request of the ruling NC and the Maoist Center.

The Personal Secretariat of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the UML has agreed to lift the house obstruction following the agreement on Sunday. 


The UML lawmakers have been disrupting the meetings of both houses of the federal parliament since Wednesday demanding resignation of Prime Minister Dahal. The top leaders of the parties in the ruling coalition requested Prime Minister Dahal to discuss with the top leaders of the major parties regarding the opening of the obstruction of the House.  


Prime Minister Dahal, the main opposition party, UML, Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba were present at the meeting held at Singha Durbar.


Earlier, Speaker Devraj Ghimire had deferred the meeting of the House of Representatives, which was called for 1 pm, to 3 pm today at the request of Prime Minister Dahal.
