The song came out at the beginning of August, making it their first release in over 13 years. Clocking in at over ten minutes, it is the longest song to land on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at No. 93. The album itself debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in its first week, knocking Taylor Swift's Lover from the top of the chart.
Tool played "Fear Inoculum" live for the first time this past weekend at Aftershock festival, just in time for the track to reach No. 1 on the active rock radio chart, making it their fourth No. 1 radio single. They played another Fear Inoculum track — "Pneuma" — live for the first time at the festival too.
