Tokha Municipality to conduct 3,000 antigen tests for free next week

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The Tokha Municipality is to conduct 3,000 antigen tests for free of cost next week.

The municipality in coordination of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is launching 3,000 antigen testing free of cost from coming Sunday, according to spokesperson for the Tokha Municipality, Bachhu Raj Basyal.

The rapid antigen test provides COVID-19 results in just 30 minutes. “Swab samples of individuals are collected for antigen testing like that for polymerase chain reaction tests,” said Basyal. “It is also more economical than PCR tests.” 

Tokha Municipality has conducted as many as 6,722 COVID-19 tests so far, according to Mayor Prakash Adihikari.

Tokha is the municipality with the second highest number of COVID-19 cases after Kathmandu Metropolitan City. So far, 10 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 infection in the municipality.
