Timilsina arrested again

KATHMANDU, June 27: Police have arrested a poet over his alleged involvement in the Netra Bikram Chand’s Communist Party of Nepal, at outlawed outfit. Thakur Prasad Timilsina aka Rasuwali Kavi was arrested while he was attending a literary function in the capital on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, June 27: Police have arrested a poet over his alleged involvement in the Netra Bikram Chand’s Communist Party of Nepal, at outlawed outfit. Thakur Prasad Timilsina aka Rasuwali Kavi was arrested while he was attending a literary function in the capital on Wednesday.


This is the second time Timilsina was arrested since March. Earlier, the Armed Police Force had arrested Timilsina from Hilegaun area in Balaju when he was walking on the road. He was later released on bail following a huge uproar on social media.

Police had also briefly detained Sangeet Srota, a journalist with Naya Patrika daily on Wednesday. Police said Timilsina was arrested for further questioning about his alleged affiliation with the party.


Timilsina is allegedly Rasuwa district committee member of the outfit.


Wednesday’s arrests have generated a huge outcry on the social media with many describing this as an attack on civil liberties and right to expression.
