KATHMANDU, Feb 10: General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Prem Nath Thakur has been suspended. According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rajendra Kumar KC, the audio material of Thakur's conversation with the representative of Thai Smile Airways for the purpose of taking illegal benefits has been received.
KC said that a written letter has been sent to the General Manager of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to suspend him from his post in order to investigate the matter.
The case will also be forwarded to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission for further investigation. Thakur has been in charge of the TIA for the last two years.
