Three pilgrims missing in Koshi river

DHARAN, May 9: Three pilgrims who visited the Barahchhetra temple of Sunsari to pay respect to their departed mothers have been swept away by the Saptakoshi River.



Ramesh Banskota, 40, and Gopal Banskota, 35, both residents of Shantinagar in Jhapa and Gyan Nath Banskota, 55, of Kakadvitta were swept away by the river while taking a dip in the river. [break]While Ramesh and Gopal were siblings, Gyan Nath was their uncle. They were in Barahchhetra with some other family members.



SP Ganesh Thapa, chief of the District Police Office of Sunsari, said, “We searched for the missing pilgrims," said SP Thapa. "But, our efforts went in vein."



"It´s a very tragic incident for us," said Yadu Ghimire, who went to the Barahchhetra temple along with the Banskota family. "We are still searching for them. But, chances of finding them alive are very slim."
