KATHMANDU, Jan 2: A meeting of the major three political parties held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar on Monday morning ended without reaching a conclusion.

During the meeting, the top leaders made another round of attempts to forge a consensus to end the current political deadlock.

The leaders discussed constitution amendment bill, House obstruction and local elections.

During the meeting, UML leaders demanded with the government to withdraw the constitution amendment bill. They were of the opinion that the political deadlock will end with the withdrawal of the bill.

“We requested to withdraw the bill,” he said, “The meeting made no headway as the ruling leaders kept mum.”

When asked what UML will do if the government tables the bill forcefully, Oli said that his party has not chalked any strategies and will decide impromptu in such a situation.

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel said that no agreement was reached.

The parties, however, agreed to continue discussions, according to Poudel.

The meeting was held ahead of parliament meeting slated for 1 pm today. The main opposition party, UML, has been obstructing the proceedings at parliament demanding with the government to withdraw the constitution amendment bill.

On Sunday, the ruling coalition had reached an understanding to table the constitution amendment bill in parliament despite the obstruction by CPN-UML and eight other fringe parties.
