Three missing, one injured as a pickup van carrying patient plunges into Trishuli river

DHADING, Nov 26: Three people have gone missing and one other was seriously injured as a pick-up van carrying a patient plunged into Trishuli River near Nagdi Khola area of Ichchha Manakamana Rural Municipality-4 in Chitwan on Thursday morning.

The ill-fated pickup van (Lu 1 Cha 9731) on its way to Kathmandu from Pyuthan district plunged into Trishuli River at around 5:30 am, according to police. The pickup van had skidded some 30 meters off the road and plunged into Trishuli River.

According to DSP Surya Thapa, the injured Mukund Bahadur Rokka, 38, of Jhimruk Rural Municipality-1 in Pyuthan is currently undergoing treatment at the College of Medical Science (Teaching Hospital) in Chitwan. He has sustained injuries on his head and stomach.

Those missing have been identified as Mukunda's spouse, Jamuna Rokka, 33, and his daughter Jenisha Rokka, 15, and the van driver Surya KC, 23. The Rokka family was bringing their daughter for treatment in Kathmandu as per the recommendation of the local hospital.

The pickup van has completed drowned in the water. A team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force is carrying out search operations now, according to DSP Thapa.
