Three missing as jeep falls into Sunkoshi River

SINDHULI, Aug 24: Three people, including the driver, are missing after a jeep fell into the Sunkoshi River in Sindhuli on Saturday evening, while one person miraculously survived the accident.

The vehicle fell into the river from the Kudule area of Golanjor Rural Municipality-1 in Sindhuli while it was on its way to Bhaktapur from Halesi in Khotang via the Mid-hill Highway.

SP Gobinda Raj Kafle of the District Police Office, Sindhuli, informed that the missing individuals are 32-year-old Abin BK from Jagati in Suryabinayak Municipality of Bhaktapur, 30-year-old Pranit Syagu, and 37-year-old Balaram Ghatuwa from the same place. According to SP Kafle, they have yet to ascertain the vehicle's registration number.

Twenty-seven-year-old Sushant Kashpati, a resident of Jagati in Suryabinayak Municipality, who was traveling in the same vehicle, has come into contact with the police. His health is said to be moderate.

According to the police, Sushant sustained injuries to his back, elbow, and head. Police reported that he has been brought to Khurkot Hospital for treatment.

Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) personnel have reached the accident site to search for the missing persons. Police said that the missing vehicle has already been located, and efforts are underway to retrieve it from the river with the help of a crane.
