SURKHET, July 1: Three persons from Surkhet have been jailed for sexually abusing two Raute women. Surkhet District Court Judge Dil Prakash Sapkota ordered police to remand Chauman Gharti, Bhupendra Budha and Man Bahadur Pun alias Milan of Gurbhakot-9 in Surkhet for trial.
According to the District Police Office, all the three have been shifted to Surkhet District Jail on Wednesday following a court order. A video of a 19-year-old and a 23-year-old girl from the wandering Raute community in Gurbhakot Municipality showed a Raute girl being taken to a local hotel in Botechaur. The video that went viral in social media later also showed the girl being sexually assaulted.
Police had arrested the accused two days after the incident and had started an investigation. Police had registered a case of human trafficking, sexual abuse and rape against the youths.
