Three COVID-19 patients die in home isolation

KATHMANDU, May 30: As many as three COVID-19 infected people staying isolated at their homes and seven others suffering from the viral disease died in the last 24 hours in Karnali Province. According to the Province Health Service Directorate, five people died in Surkhet, three in Salyan and two in Rukum after suffering from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. 

Among the list of the deceased, two patients from Salyan and one from Surkhet died in home isolation. The deceased have been identified as a 38-year-old male from Birendranagar of Surkhet, a 42-year-old male from Kapurkot and a 49-year-old male from Bangadh Kupinde Municipality of Salyan. Also, another male from Salyan died on the way to Nepalgunj for treatment. 

According to Nodh Narayan Chaudhary, information officer for the province’s health service directorate, four people died of the viral disease at Karnali Provincial Hospital while two people died at Chaurjahari Mission Hospital in Rukum. 

Meanwhile, 233 new cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded in the province in the past 24 hours. So far, 237 people have died of the viral disease in the province. Out of 454 PCR tests conducted, 104 people tested positive for COVID-19 while 108 people tested positive for the virus through an antigen test among 426 people. Also, 342 people recovered from COVID-19 on Saturday in Karnali Province.
