Three arrested with 10 kg hashish

RUKUM, October 7: Police on Monday evening arrested three individuals in possession of 10 kg hashish from Ghetma of Aathbiskot Municipality-13.

Chief of the District Police Office (DPO), Rukum (west), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sumit Khadka identified those arrested as 42-year-old Indra Chand and 38-year-old Karna Bahadur Shahi of Aathbiskot Municipality-9, and 60-year-old Hikmat Budhathoki originally from Salyan Dhorchaur Rural Municipality-2 and currently living in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-9.

According to Khadka, a joint police team of Karnali Province Police Bureau and District Police Office made the arrests following a tip-off. Khadka said that cash worth Rs 43,445, three mobile phones, torch lights, and weighing balances have also been recovered from the arrestees.

Police claimed that initial investigation showed that the three arrested were drug peddlers. DSP Khadka said that all three of them have been charged with drug trafficking. The investigation is still underway, he added.

Meanwhile, Rukum Police has launched a special campaign to control crimes that could take place during Tihar. At a press meet organized on Tuesday, the DPO said that there will be strict monitoring against gambling.
