He argued that the elements benefiting from the old regime created a state of confrontation in the country as the Maoist-led government tried to bring changes in the political, social, economic and cultural fronts. “But this situation will not last long,” he said. He also argued that the current government is already in crisis.
The Maoist chairman also said that the new government led by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was formed putting the national independence, prestige and self-esteem at stake. “The people had earned national pride through the decade-long people´s war and the historic mass movement, but this pride has hit rock bottom. It is a mockery of democracy,” he said.
While arguing that the “people benefiting from the old regime” are hatching conspiracy against democracy, he called for the national unity to defeat them.
