KATHMANDU, Nov 17: As election approaches, here’s what voters need to be aware of:

1. Get your Voter ID card: Voter ID card for First Phase election will be distributed on November 24 and 25. For Second Phase, December 5 and 6 at voting centers of districts.   Voters who have voted in the previous local election can use the same ID card to vote for the upcoming elections.

Know your candidates for House of House of Representatives Phase 1 and 2:

ON THE VOTING DAY:

1. Carry your Voter ID card

2. Where to vote: Voters will vote on three ballot papers. Each voter must cast a total of four votes;

   1. One on House of Representatives (FPTP)

   2. One on Provincial Assembly (FPTP)

   3. One for Proportional Representation (PR) to House of Representatives

   4. One for PR for Provincial Assembly.

Green, Black and Red: The voter will receive three ballot papers of three different colors.

1. First, the voter will receive a green ballot paper. The ballot paper refers to House of Representatives (FPTP). The voter must vote only on one election symbol.

2. Second, a black ballot paper will be provided where the voter will cast vote for the Provincial Assembly candidate (FPTP). The voter must vote only on one election symbol.

3. The final is the red one. There are two boxes with electoral symbols. The upper one refers to PR for House of Representatives while the second one is for PR candidate under Provincial Assembly.  Here, voters have to choose one each in both the boxes.  (Scroll down for sample ballot papers).

1. Full ink: Make sure sufficient ink is absorbed by the stamp and voting sign is fully stamped on the ballot papers. Votes should stamp adjacent to the election symbol. Votes that are not adjacent to the election symbols are unlikely to be counted.
