These nine districts still have 500 plus active COVID-19 cases each, Karnali Province least-affected

KATHMANDU, July 4: Along with the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, nine districts across the country still have more than 500 active cases of the coronavirus disease, reveals the daily updates released by the health ministry on Sunday. 

While no district in Province 2, Karnali and Sudur Paschim provinces report 500 plus active cases of the deadly virus, three in Province 1 (Morang, Sunsari and Jhapa), four in Bagmati (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Chitwan) one each in Gandaki (Kaski) and Lumbini (Rupandehi) are still placed in the ‘red zone’.

Kathmandu, Nepal’s federal capital, still has 5,145 active cases followed by Morang (1,740), Lalitpur (1616), Kaski (1,320), Jhapa (1,260), Sunsari (1,147), Bhaktapur (1108), Chitwan (721) and Rupandehi (511). 

The officials shared that no district across the country had reported zero cases of the disease as of Sunday afternoon. 

Twenty-three other districts have reported COVID-19 cases between 200 and 500. The data reveals that Karnali is the least-affected province with only Surkhet district having more than 200 cases. 

As of Sunday afternoon, Nepal has a total of 27,716 active cases of the disease which accounts for 4.05 percent of the total cases confirmed (682,739) so far.
