KATHMANDU, June 26: Former prime minister and chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused the state of neglecting the tourism sector. He made such an allegation while speaking at the swearing-in and medal handover program organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association on Friday.

Stating that the tourism sector has a significant role to play in resolving the economic crisis in the country, Dahal said that the role of the state has not been satisfactory for the amendment, modification and promotion of laws in this sector. "The tourism sector will never be empty and it can never end. The more you spend on the tourism sector, the more it increases unlike other sectors,” he said.

Similarly, he mentioned that the role of his facilitator has been meaningful in the complex issues related to the procedures and new committee in the tourism sector. He said that the sector has also helped in the campaign of social transformation.

Likewise, Chairman Dahal also said that he was not satisfied with the work done in the development and promotion of the tourism sector when he was the Prime Minister and pointed out the need to be serious and sensitive toward the country now. Stating that the role of the state is still weak, he personally expressed his commitment to take initiatives with the government on the issue of tourism.
