KATHMANDU, July 28: Mahesh Kumar Mahara, a member of the National Assembly, has said that the situation wherein the people have to bribe middlemen to get passports from the passport department should be promptly addressed.

Speaking in the zero hour of the National Assembly meeting on Thursday, Mahara demanded that the government provide passports to the people without any hassles and take action against the employees working in cahoot with the middlemen.

He said, "People come to the passport department from the far-flung areas to get passports. They are not easily available. Middlemen offer them to make their passports fast by charging Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. I would like to draw the attention of the government to stop this immediately and take action against the middlemen and the employees working in cahoot with each other and provide passports to the applicants without any hassles.”
