KATHMANDU, August 18: The ousted Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Mahantha Thakur filed an application at the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday, seeking to register a new political party.
The new political party has been named Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (Democratic). The party has chosen a bicycle as its election symbol.
Thakur’s move to register a new political party comes weeks after the EC granted official recognition to the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the JSP. Chairman Yadav had then ousted Thakur from the post of chairman, leaving him only as a general member of the party.
The new political party will have a total of 24 central executive members.
