Thakur’s move to register a new political party comes weeks after the EC granted official recognition to the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the JSP. Chairman Yadav had then ousted Thakur from the post of chairman, leaving him only as a general member of the party.

The new political party will have a total of 24 central executive members.
