Thailand defeats Nepal by 57 runs

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Nepal lost early wickets as it lost to host Thailand by 57 runs in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier at Bangkok today.

Nepal's fall of wicket was: 1-2, 2-2, 3-8, 4-54, 5-56, 6-59, 7-61 and 8-67.

In its 20 over game, Nepal scored 67 runs.

Host nation Thailand, which won the toss, put a target of 125 runs for Nepal to chase at the loss of seven wickets.

Fielding first, Nepali bowlers, Nary Thapa and Kabita Kunwar took two wickets each.

This is Nepal's second defeat against Thailand. Earlier, Nepal lost in the final game against Thailand in the T20 Women's Smash Tournament.

C Sutthiruang and N Chaiwai scored highest runs, 35 and 32 runs respectively for Thailand while Indu Barma scored 29 runs, the highest score by Nepali batsmen in the game.

Nepal now has four games -- against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 22, Hong Kong on February 24, China on February 25 and Kuwait on February 27.
