KOHALPUR, March 14: Tension flared in Sonapur after the CPN-UML cadres encountered with the agitating cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) along the Bardiya-Sonapur road section in Banke district on Tuesday.

 The UML cadres participating in the Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign encountered with the UDMF cadres at Sonapur.

The clashes erupted when the UDMF cadres started pelting stones at the UML campaign rally.

The police had to open fire to take the situation under control after the baton-charge could not help bring the situation under control.

Meawhile, police have arrested two UDMF cadres followoing the clash.
