ARGHAKHANCHI, Nov 27: The death toll in Arghakhanchi bus accident has climbed to 15, district authorities said here. 

Chief District Officer Bijaya Raj Poudel told Republica Online that 15 dead bodies have been recovered so far. Of them, 6 are men, 5 women, 3 children and one has yet to be identified, according to him. 

Poudel further said that 11 injured have been rushed to Butwal for further treatment.

Ten persons died while 15 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus met with an accident at Sandhikharcha municipality-6 in Arghakhanchi district on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Bista, the incident happened when the ill-fated Butwal-bound bus (Lu 2 Kha 2148) drove off the highway and plunged 400 meters down into the gorge at local Narapani area. The injured have been rushed to hospitals for treatment.

The bus had departed for Butwal from Sandhikharka at 1:30 pm. Police have been mobilized to carry out rescue operations.
