With an aim to search for new trekking route and promote tourism in Province 1, a team of tourism entrepreneurs has headed for a seven-day trek in the hills of eastern districts. The team of 53 trekkers under the aegis of Taplejung Sarokar Kendra Kathmandu has left Dharan for Terathum on Tuesday.

The seven-day trek has been named ‘Teenjure, Gufa, Pathivara Padyatra Mahotsav’. The locals of Dharan believed that this trek will attract entrepreneurs from the capital city. The trek has been supported by Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Mountaineering Association, Travel and Tourists Association among others.

Taplejung Sunsari Sarokar Samaj organized a welcome and farewell program on Tuesday for the trekkers at the premises of Ghantaghar, Dharan. About the trek, Chitragupta Sanwa, vice chairman of Taplejung Sarokar Kendra and leader of the Mahotsav said: “The trek aims to find a pathway to link Dharan, Dhankuta, Terhathum and Sankhuwasabha with Pathivara Temple and promote tourism in these areas. The route from Dharan to Pathivara Temple is captivating because of the natural beauty. Trekkers can travel here enjoying the scenic view of nature.”

On the journey, the trekkers will visit Pathivara Temple passing through Tinjure, Chauki, Mangalbare, Lampokhari, Gufa Pokhari and base of Taplejung. According to the organizers, the trekkers will celebrate (Nepali) New Year at Pathivara Temple premises on April 18.

Former mayor of Dharan and president of Taplejung Sunsari Sarokar Samaj Dharan, Manoj Kumar Meyangbo said: “Such kind of programs should be organized frequently to promote tourism in the province. The trekkers will also visit Tinjure-Milke-Jaljale (TMJ) area, known as the capital of rhododendron flowers. There are 45 different kinds of Rhododendron in the world and 32 of them are found at TMJ. So, I believe this trek will help to promote natural and cultural beauty of the area.”
