MUGU, Aug 23: A thirty-year-old man has raped a teenage girl in Chhayanath Rural Municipality-14 of the district.

Prithvi Bahadur Badhuwal, brother-in-law by relation, of Bam village raped 14-year-old girl one week ago while she was grazing cattle in hilly grassland in the district.

Despite villagers’ attempts to keep the case secret, it came to the fore after the victim herself came to the district hospital for health checkup four days after she came under attack.

The victim herself came to knock the door of the Office of the Women and Children based in the district.

“The office has filed a case at the office of the government prosecutor and the district police following the appeal made by the victim,” said Hasina Parajuli Subedi, Chief of District Women and Children Office.

The perpetrator is at large. According to locals, the perpetrator has fled to Humla.

Police said they have launched a manhunt for the culprit.
