KATHMANDU, July 4: The body of director Nilu Doma Sherpa has been cremated on Tuesday at Swayambhu near Nepal Army barrack. The director of popular Nepali film ‘How Funny’ Sherpa had passed away last Saturday due to heart-attack.
The body was flower-bedecked and covered by a ‘Rainbow Flag’ as a sign of respect by members of Blue Diamond Society. “The demise of Director Nilu Doma Sherpa has left us in shock. She was working for the recognition and rights of Nepal’s LGBTI and Sexual Minority group. We express our deep sympathies to her family and pray for the peace of her departed soul.” stated Blue Diamond Society in their press release.
Prominent names of Nepal Film industry like actresses Nisha Adhikari, Namarata Shrestha, former miss Nepal Malvika Subba, producers and directors Rekha Thapa and Deepa Shree Niraula were present at the funeral paying their last respect.
The visionary director was working on her next venture, a short film named ‘Kagaz’.
