Teacher-student tales

KATHMANDU, July 26: With time, the stern association between a teacher and student eases into a friendly bond.  The gradual development in the relationship incites a cordial bond that both cherish forever.

My City’s Rahat Poudel met with a few students indebted to their teachers for their success in life.

Nawaraj Parajuli, Poet
My teachers taught me to plan well for the future, believe in my dreams and to never give up. I consider Hima Rawal, my master’s teacher, as one of the best teachers I ever had. She used to teach us 2nd Language Acquisition.
As I was the last bencher who never paid attention in class, she’d always nagged me by asking questions almost every day.

Deepak Bajracharya, Musician
Little Star Shrestha, who is also my cousin, taught me to play the guitar. Kumar Lal Shrestha was my teacher who taught me the core of the classical music.
I remember the late Kumar Lal Shrestha taking care of me. He was different from other teachers. I used to go to his class early in the morning.  As I sat practicing music, he would sit a in corner and smoke, blowing smoke all over the room.

Sirish Gurung, Athlete

I learned the basics of swimming from Janak Tamata in Mahendra Police Club. He taught me to float and swim. At the national level, Ongden Lama helped me hone my skills.
The favorite moment we share is the moment when I broke Lama’s national record that he had held for so long.
