KATHMANDU, May 20: A joint team of Inland Revenue Department and Taxpayers Service Office on Friday monitored paan stalls in different parts of the Kathmandu Valley.
According to the IRD, the team monitored the shops following complaints that they were selling different tobacco products imported through illegal channel. “Such illegal imports can affect business of tobacco companies which are duly paying all the taxes.
This step will also plug revenue leakage to some extent,” the statement added. During the monitoring, taxmen seized tobacco products that did not have stickers of Inland Revenue Department as well as graphic health warning against tobacco consumption.
The team had monitored ten shops in Sundhara, Botebahal, Kalanki, Kuleshwar, Balaju, Chabahil and Lagankhel.
