BANKE, Sept 11: A government employee was arrested with undisclosed funds amounting to Rs 2.6 million from the Nepalgunj Airport in Banke. Khagendra Sapkota, a tax officer employed at the Inland Revenue Office in Tulsipur, Dang, has been apprehended.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Dangi said that during the routine check at the airport, the money was recovered from the bag that Sapkota was carrying. Deepak Paudel, another employee from the Inland Revenue Office in Tulsipur who was accompanying Tax Officer Sapkota, was able to evade arrest and is currently absconding.
Sapkota was going to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj by a Shree Airlines flight with the said amount. Sapkota has been kept at the District Police Office for further investigation.
