KATHMANDU, Feb 23: The 2020 Carlsberg Golf Series concluded with Carlsberg adding its unique touch to one of the esteemed golfing events of the country.
This tournament was opened to amateur golfers from across the nation have a valid handicap from their home clubs.
Tashi Dong accumulated 44 points to secure the top position to become the nett winner, while Tashi Tshiring finished as the gross winner with 41 gross points. Dawa J Sherpa was the nett runner-up with 36 points and Madhav Simkhada was the gross runner-up with 28 gross points.

Aarti Rana became the winner in the women’s category with 29 points (countback). Devasri Rana finished as the runner-up with 29 points (countback).
In the senior age 60 and above category, Tej Rai won the title with 36 points and Brig. Gen Dilip Rayamajhi finished as the runner-up with 35 points.
Tshiring bagged the most birdies with six including one eagle, whereas Nirabh Koirala and KC Gurung got the longest drive and closest to the pin respectively.
The tournament was played on a Stableford format with ¾ handicap over 18 holes which saw 88 golfers take part in the event.
President of Gokarna Golf Club, Suhrid Ghimire shared his experience saying, “Carlsberg golf has indeed come a long way since its inception in 1990s giving opportunities for aspiring amateur golfers to step up their game.” He added, “Carlsberg’s association with golf is built on decades-long support as Carlsberg has been a supportive sponsor of golf in Nepal since the beginning.”
Deputy managing director of Gorkha Brewery, Surendra Silwal further added, “We had an exceptionally great response to the tournament and express gratitude towards the participants. Also, a huge thanks to our partner, Gokarna Forest Resort, for their untiring support in making this tournament a huge success.”
Senior golf director of Gokarna Forest Resort, Deepak Acharya added, “Carlsberg Golf is an excellent platform for competitive golf for amateur golfers.
