Tara Air's Twin Otter plane suffers nose damage after collision with a bird

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Tara Air's Twin Otter plane has suffered damage in its nose after it collided with an eagle near Manelek in Humla.

The aircraft landed safely at Simkot airport in Humla at 12:30 PM with no human casualties.

The aircraft of Tara Airlines with a call sign 9N-AKL was on its way from Nepalgunj to Simikot Airport Humla on Wednesday afternoon at 11:37 PM. About two minutes before landing at the Simikot Airport, the front part of the aircraft (nose of aircraft) was damaged as a result of the collision with an eagle.

It is reported that all three crew members of the aircraft are safe. The plane was used to transport rice from Nepalgunj. According to Tara Air’s Spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, the aircraft was carrying a cargo of rice and all the crew members are safe. A technical team of Tara Air has reached the airport and inspection of the aircraft is currently underway.
