Tara Air adds new Dornier aircraft

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Tara Air has added new Dornier aircraft in its fleet. The aircraft landed in Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday.



Issuing a statement, the airline said it procured Dornier 228-212 aircraft from Island Aviation Service of the Maldives. The German made aircraft

The 19-seater aircraft has Honeywell TPE 331 engine and features Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) and Traffic Collision Awareness System (TCAS-1). It also has weather radar and has ultramodern equipment.[break]



Tara Air presently flies to 20 destinations with a fleet of a Dornier and five Twin Otters. Most of its destinations are rural airstrips like Lukla, Phaplu, Lamidanda, Khanidanda, Rumjhatar, Tumlingtar, Ramechhap, Bhojpur, Meghauli from Kathmandu. The airline also has scheduled flights on Pokhara-Jomsom and Pokhara-Manang sector.



Similarly, it also flies to Dolpa, Jumla, Bajura, Simikot and Rara from Nepalgunj and Surkhet. Besides, it also offers chartered flights to Sanfebagar, Rukum and Bajhang.



“We are happy to contribute toward development works by providing air connectivity in rural as well as urban area,” the statement quoted Vinaya Shakya, senior manager of Tara Air
