Tanahun 1 by-election: RSP’s Wagle leading by nearly double votes (update)

Wagle has got 11,677 votes while his closest contender Bhattarai has got 6,788 votes

KATHMANDU, April 24: The counting of votes is underway for the by-election of the member of the House of Representatives of Tanahun Constituency- 1 that was held on Sunday. 

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Dr Swarnim Wagle has maintained the lead in the vote count by securing 11,677 votes. His closest contender Nepali Congress candidate Govinda Bhattarai is trailing behind him with 6788 votes. Sarbendra Khanal of the CPN-UML has received 3,803 votes.

The counting of votes started at 11:45PM last night. Earlier Nepali Congress had won this constituency. After not getting a ticket from the Nepali Congress in the by-election as well, Wagle joined the RSP to contest the bypolls from Tanahun-1.
