KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Departmental teams Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Nepal Police Club (NPC) have advanced into the semifinals of the ongoing 28th Men’s National Football Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championship on Wednesday.
TAC defeated Eastern Region 2-0 with a 17th minute strike from Bibek Basnet and 88th minute goal from Deep Lama. Likewise, NPC thrashed Western Region 4-0 on the same day. NPC’s Suman Lama bagged a brace in the 31st and 64th minutes, while Nir Kumar Rai and Bhola Silwal scored in the 28th minute and 43rd minute respectively.
The semifinals lineup hasve also been completed, which will see NPC take on the other departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) and Far-western Region will take on TAC on Thursday.

Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Tthe winner of Group A, departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) will face the Group B runner-up of Group B Western Region, while the other last four match will sees Group B winner Far-western Region will take on the runner-up of Group A, Eastern Region.
In the last day of men’s quarterfinal category matches, Western and Eastern secured wins to reach the last four as runners-ups in their respective groups. Western defeated Central Region 2-1 with goals from Roshan Rana and Rajan Nepal, while Ankit Pathak had scored a goal for the losing side. Likewise, Eastern beat Mid-western Region 3-1 courtesy of to a brace from Ashok Paudel and a goal from Shakil Sheikh. Mid-western’s Santosh Besha scored a consolation goal.
In the women’s round-robin match played in the round robin league format in Hetauda, Far-western has finally won a match. Far-western, whoich had lost both of its earlier matches, won the third beating Eastern 3-0. Bimala Bhatta bagged a brace and Bindu Rawal scored a goal. Earlier, Far-western had lost against TAC and Eastern.
In the other match played on the same day, Western and Central played a goalless draw.
Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) has won two back-to-back matches on the first day in of the ongoing third National Kho Kho Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championship on Wednesday.
In the matches played in Rupandehi’s Guras Sports Stadium, TAC defeated Eastern Region 11-8 in men’s category and Central Region 11-3 in women’s category. TAC is the defending champion of in both the categories.
In the other matches played on the same day, Far-western Region and Mid-western Region played a 17-17 draw in women’s category, while Far-western saw off Central 17-11 in men’s category.
The sSixth National Taekwondo Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) is set to start from Thursday at the Hile Higher Secondary School’s complex in Dhankuta.
National Taekwondo Association (NTA)’s General Secretary Raj Kumar Karki informed that the players will take part in 27 different categories of men’s and women’s in gyarogi and poomsae.
A total of 85 players each from men’s and women’s category will feature in the tournament. The three-day tournament will be formally inaugurated only on Saturday.
The 10th National Soft Tennis Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championship is all set to start from Thursday in Biratnagar.
A total of 42 players each from men’s and women’s categoryies will feature for the from five regional teams and two departmental teams--Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police Club (NPC) will feature in the event, informed Morang District’s Soft Tennis Association’s president Shyam Lama.
The NSC also informed that the players will participate in seven categories which are men’s/women’s singles, doubles and team event and mixed doubles.
The three-day tournament will be played in Baijanathpur and Jute Mill Court at Rani Mills.
