KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The Social Justice and Human Rights Committee of the parliament has asked the government to draft amendment bill on the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act in line with the verdicts issued by the Supreme Court (SC) on the cases of transitional justice as well as keeping in mind the international standards and practices. The committee has also asked the government to table the bill at the committee at the earliest.
Following a discussion on the amendment of the Act, the house panel decided to direct the government to immediately draft the bill in line with SC verdicts and international standards.
Likewise, the committee has also asked the government to prepare bills for establishing National Dalit Commission, National Inclusion Commission, Indigenous Nationalities Commission, Madheshi Commission, Tharu Commission and Muslim Commission as provisioned in the new constitution and present them to the committee as soon as possible.
