POKHARA, July 26: A flood in the Seti River caused by heavy rainfall since Monday evening swept away a woman, besides inundating over three dozens of houses.
Motikala Chhantyal, 40, from Myagdi and currently living in Hemja was swept away by the river last evening in course of extracting sand from the river bank, District Police Office Kaski Spokesperson Gajusiddhi Bajracharya said.
The flooded river inundated six houses in landless squatters' settlement in Ramghat. The settlement dwellers were evacuated to safety last night.
Similarly, 20 houses in landless squatters' settlement in Kaseri have been inundated.
The swollen Madi River washed away two houses and a community clinic building at Parche VDC.
