The apex court has also sought a detail report from the government on the existing food stock in the country. Now, the government should submit a written answer to the SC on the available food stock during the lockdown period.

In its ruling, the SC has asked the federal government to coordinate with province and local governments for the welfare of the daily wage earners who are currently scrambling for food stuffs.

In his writ petition, advocate Luitel had argued that the fundamental rights of the daily wage earners and poor people may be breached as they may not be able manage daily food items during the lockdown period.

The extended lockdown enforced by the government will remain until April 7.
