KATHMANDU, July 12: The rival faction leader within the ruling CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the support of 23 UML lawmakers given earlier to Nepali Congress(NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba in his prime ministerial bid is still intact.

Senior leader Nepal made the remarks while expressing serious dissatisfaction over the claims made by a section of leaders close to Prime Minister K P Oli that the writ petition filed earlier by NC President Deuba was now invalid with 23 UML lawmakers withdrawing their signatures. Nepal has said that 23 lawmakers who extended their signatures earlier to President Deuba have not withdrawn their signatures even as the Task Force has finalized a 10-point agreement to settle intra-party disputes in the UML.

Taking to the social media platform, Nepal has hinted that leaders close to Prime Minister Oli were deliberately trying to influence the final verdict of the Supreme Court on the parliament dissolution case. The final verdict on the case is due later today.

“Interpretation made by the press advisor of the party chairman and prime minister regarding the 10-point proposal prepared by the Task Force is against the spirit of discussions made at the Task Force. This interpretation is wrong and unacceptable,” he wrote in his facebook post.

Stating that the interpretation of the agreement in a bid to influence the sub-judice case on parliament dissolution case at the apex court or defame the court won’t be acceptable, senior leader Nepal maintained that all the 23 lawmakers of the party, who filed the writ petitions against parliament dissolution, are together and they are firm in their belief and signatures given earlier to Deuba.
